Deltarune still has a long road ahead, and Toby Fox has now made it clear that the adventure is far from over. According to a newly updated FAQ, Chapter 6 is currently targeting a 2027 release window, giving fans a clearer sense of when the next major step in the story may arrive.
The update appeared on the game's Steam page, where Fox also confirmed an important point for anyone wondering whether the latest chapter marked a stopping point: Chapter 5 is not the conclusion. Instead, the team is continuing forward, with Chapter 6 already lined up as the next release.
"We are aiming for a 2027 release," reads the FAQ. "Meanwhile, we will be periodically releasing information on the development progress of the game."
That statement lines up with earlier comments from Fox, who had already suggested that work on Chapter 6 was moving along well. At the time, he also hinted that development on Chapter 7 could begin ramping up sooner than some players might expect, depending on how things continue to progress.
"This sounds crazy, but it’s not unrealistic that some staff members may start working on Chapter 7 before the end of the year," Fox said.
Even with that momentum, the full scope of Deltarune’s future remains uncertain. Fox has outlined the immediate next chapter, but there is still no firm public answer on how long the game will continue to receive support beyond that.
Critical reception has remained strong as the project has expanded. In its review of Deltarune, IGN awarded the game a 9/10 and praised both Toby Fox and his team for delivering chapters that feel ambitious, emotionally charged, and compelling even before the full story has reached its end.
For players invested in Deltarune’s mix of narrative mystery, escalating stakes, and chapter-based progression, the latest update offers two clear takeaways: Chapter 5 is not the finish line, and Chapter 6 is already in sight for 2027.
