Puzzle, casual, and level-based—that's what first comes to mind when I think of Rescue Hero.
The hero, princess, lava, water, monsters, coins, and treasure chests are all separated by a series of golden pins. Your job is to pull these pins out in the right order to keep the hero alive, rescue the princess, collect the coins, and defeat the monsters. That's pretty much the whole game.
Of course, “pull the pins” sounds much easier than actually pulling the right ones. One wrong move can send lava in the wrong direction, put the hero in danger, or ruin your chance to collect everything you want. Before touching a pin, you'll need to take a quick look at the whole level and think about what will happen once that barrier is removed.
The fun comes from watching the different elements interact with each other. Water can deal with lava, monsters can become obstacles—or targets—and sometimes the safest-looking move isn't necessarily the right one. As the levels become more complicated, you'll need to pay more attention to the order of your actions rather than simply reacting to what's directly in front of you.
The game also keeps its presentation simple and easy to understand. The visuals aren't particularly elaborate, but the colorful characters, clear obstacles, and straightforward level layouts make it easy to see what you're supposed to deal with.
Overall, Rescue Hero doesn't try to reinvent the puzzle genre. It takes the familiar pin-pulling formula, adds a mixture of heroes, monsters, treasure, lava, and water, and turns it into an easy-to-pick-up casual game. If you enjoy quick puzzles where one wrong move can completely change the outcome, it's worth giving Rescue Hero a try.
